One in five U.S. workers are already active on a social network, and nearly half of those people have said their employers let them use social networking sites for work purposes, according to a recent report by the Workplace Trends and Research Center, a professional association. As a result, employers are eager to use social networking to help job seekers and employees, and their attitudes toward it have changed, the report found. An employer is now less likely to frown upon job seekers who use social networking sites for company-related purposes, and more likely to trust job seekers who admit to it. Online bachelor's degrees vs. on-campus bachelor's degrees
— 53 percent of bachelor's degree recipients in 2012-13 enrolled in a public university, down from 68 percent in 2007-08. — On average, the cost for the average bachelor's degree increased 25 percent from $33,800 in 2011-12 to $43,600 in 2016-17. — For state residents, cost increases ranged from 18 percent to 35 percent. Schools most dependent on state funds There is some bad news for Michigan colleges. In two years, state funding has been cut by a total of $152 million. But there is good news: more in-state students are attending college, and more from that pool are attending public schools. In 2008-09, 53 percent of bachelor's degree recipients in the state enrolled in public universities. That's now up to 58 percent or 496,000 students. But that leaves 33 percent, or 294,000 students, attending private colleges, including Michigan's eight private universities.
