 I do think it's time for a "new economy," where there is less dependence on material goods and more on the appreciation of intangible things. If we really care about keeping this planet healthy, then there will have to be a massive shift to a more holistic sense of well-being. The notion of giving back, helping others, and taking care of the environment will have to be integral parts of our lives. Technology will be seen as a tool, not an end in itself, and we will truly become the Technics. Happiness won't come from technological improvements alone. People will have to come together and make a concerted effort to make the world a better place. I don't have any religion to offer as an answer, but I know that human beings are inherently good. This aspect of human beings has not changed over the centuries, and it's something that we can't put out of our minds. This is part of the concept of "new technology" being proposed in the modern era.

 It's not news that humankind is increasingly reliant on computers and other technologies that help us organize our lives, pursue our hobbies, run our businesses, educate our children, communicate with friends, entertain ourselves, and live longer, healthier lives. With each new technology that arrives, these days, we're either saying, "It's fantastic!" or we're desperately grasping for something to say that it's not.
